Milk… a deliciously gross habit?
April 3, 2007

This is the story of Milk. A oh so disgusting habit that humans have formed. This “milk” comes from another mammal. A Cow for instance or a goat maybe…what about a Moose, a Yak and many other mammals. Depending on where you are located in the world you may find dairy from other mammals readily available for consumption.
Fact: Humans are the only mammals that drink another mammals milk.
Milk is secreted by the mammary glands of mammals. It’s high nutrient content has proved to be a good source of protein, Vitamins and minerals for humans. These nutrients are attainable from many food sources and do not require the consumption of dairy products. It’s purpose was to provide a food source for young mammals before they were able to digest other foods.
Fact: The majority of people (in the entire population of the world) lose the ability to digest milk after childhood. They become lactose-intolerant. Which is why many foods found around the world do not contain any dairy.
Fact: Milk from cows contain white blood cells. White blood cells = pus. Ok, not a great example and the whole fear tactic sucks but this one is true.
Milk is a nasty habit and to continue to drink, eat or bathe in dairy products is something that we humans must kick. It’s like smoking, we love it but we know it’s not good for us. Not to mention drinking hormones (Bovine Growth Hormone anyone?) that I just don’t think we were meant to ingest. There must be adverse side-effects that Dairy Farmers/Governments are hiding from us. It’s a major economy so why would the general public be told the truth.
Think twice before asking for a tall cold one the next time you are thirsty. However, I will not be stopping my consumption of dairy just yet. Give me 30 more years of Pizza, Ice-Cream and some Fettuccine.

Well, I for one will never stop drinking it becuase it tastes good. Second, it is used in many recipes ALL Around the world. Have you forgotten about cakes, soups and cheese. I guess this is just your point of view, and everyone has one, but think before you write.
Well, I am glad to hear that you will never stop drinking milk. I don’t remember saying that dairy was not used in many recipes ALL around the world. I was just stating that many cuisines do not use dairy. Think before you write.
Thank you…please come again
