Clothing Hypocrisy

March 22, 2007

A quick little something that has bothered me. Women tend to complain that their clothes are uncomfortable, and they are to tight, etc. First of all, this is your choice to wear clothes that fit that way, there is no law behind it; but I do appreciate your taste for ignoring comfort.

But women tend to forget that men don’t have it so easy either. Our closets are simple, which is good and bad; you have choices and we don’t outside of tie and shirt pairing.

What women especially don’t appreciate is that men’s clothing expectations don’t waver with the coming of winter, passing of fall, or blazing heat of summer. W e are always wearing shirts, slacks, suit jackets (if you work in an arcane company), shoes, etc. Women in the summer get to wear dresses that breathe, t-shirts/wife-beaters, and sandals. I am not saying I want to wear a skirt, but I am jealous of how comfortable women are allowed to be.

Last, our shoes are just or more uncomfortable then yours.

Air Travel Expectations and Misbehavior

March 7, 2007

The airlines are at it again, going out of their way to ruin our lives and kick our deceased dogs. The reaction from the public in regards to delays from airlines is somewhat astounding from a human behavior standpoint, the only thing saving it from being simply shocking is that we have seen it time and time again.

It is understandable that people feel tense when a flight is delayed, but they act like it is completely unexpected and is the first delay ever. We all know that planes get delayed, flights are cancelled, connections missed; but we choose to believe that these things only happen in the movies. Sorry folks but they happen to all of us, and I am sure they have happened to you once or twice.

Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t fun, can temper the joy of a vacation, or even cost you money. But in the end, it is one vacation, one business trip, and some money you would have spent elsewhere haplessly anyways. Life is long, don’t let one moment eat you up.

I am not saying that airlines shouldn’t try to do their best. But ask yourself, aren’t they? Of course they are, it is there business, they don’t want you to be late, they don’t want to upset you, they don’t want to take hostages (and can we refrain from hostages, go speak to some real ones - they weren’t served peanuts or have tv in their seat). Plus, delays mess up the airlines whole system, it has a trickle affect, trust me they don’t want this at all.

Whats more amazing is that airlines and their delays are able to cause people to regress into the most childish behavior. They act like they have never flown or even know what a delay is. They scream at people who are doing their best, and then claiming they hope the airline fails; don’t you know how many people would lose their job. When your company makes a mistake would you like to lose your job, or have people calling for your livelihoods destruction.

I will leave it with this. If you owned a bakery and got the cake to the party late are you going to pay for the food, cover travel expenses for those who attended and give another free cake. I think not, but that is what people ask of airlines.

Of course they ask for the world, but demand $50 fares.

But this is epidemic of the world, people think with emotions rather then logic. It is truly sad that as such an advanced species we aren’t able to think with reason. Maybe Descartes and Kant had to much faith in people to use their minds.
