Nvidia’s GTX 280 - Price Plunge

July 5, 2008

Launched not more than a few weeks ago, Nvidia’s GTX 280 is said to be receiving a price-drop.

Why? Well, it looks like AMD’s cheap and powerful HD 4800 has them second guessing their dominance. And there’s no better way to gain a few extra enthusiasts than by dropping the price to match the competition.

The card is said to be dipping to as low as $499. Of course, this is pure speculation but it doesn’t seem to be too far fetched.

So, if you’re considering the GTX 280 it may be in your best interest to hold off for a couple of weeks.

Nvidia GeForce 9600GT delayed - No love for Valentines

January 27, 2008

We’re all excited to get our hands on one of Nvidia’s new graphics boards, but it looks like we’ll be waiting a little while longer.

Nvidia is pushing back the the release date of the new 9600GT until the week of February 21st. This is due to a voltage issue that is causing some of them to hang during certain types of operations.

Not a big deal, considering the original launch party was slated for the week of February 14th. Looks like there will be no love from Nvidia on the day that Geeks need it the most.

No doubt Nvidia has something up their sleeves to help extinguish the fire but for now the ATI Radeon HD 2900XT is the “king.” How much is thing going to cost?

The numbers/features are quite impressive! The features include DirextX 10, R600 GPU, 512mb GDDR3 which is clocked in at 1.65GHz across an 8 channel 512bit memory interface. The numbers….Oblivion 47.9 FPS compared to 39.5 FPS on the 8800GTS, Call of Duty 2 73.5 FPS compared with 56.7 FPS on the 8800GTS, etc…
